DAL Agriculture is the leading milk producer in Sudan, and aims to produce more than one hundred million litres of milk annually. All of our milk is processed by DAL Dairy factory, and distributed under the CAPO brand.
Our dairy herd is made up of Holstein cattle – a specially selected breed for its high milk yield. Cows are sourced from Australia, where weather conditions are similar to Sudan (hot and dry). The herd currently comprises 1,500 head of cattle, with a plan to scale up considerably in the coming years.
The farm uses the latest DeLaval equipment – for both its herd management systems and milking parlour equipment. Cows are housed in open sided corrals, with cooling systems and clean feed areas.
Cows are individually monitored for milk production, health and physiological status. The cows are fed on a total mixed ration (TMR) basis, incorporating alfalfa grown at the farm, with the nutritional requirements of different groups supplied accordingly. Average milk production is on a par with international standards.
The farm employs artificial insemination methods using frozen semen from top performing Australian Holstein bulls.
